Prof. Palley, CIS Graduate Advisor, is available (by appointment) to answer specific questions about courses or programs of study . Appointments can be scheduled with Prof. Palley at (646) 312-3362, (email: mpalley@baruch.cuny.edu). Prof. Palley's office is Room VC 11-229 (55 Lex). Many matters can be resolved on the phone or with email. In-person appointments will be made as required.
MS Program students may have certain preliminary requirements waived based on prior academic background. This evaluation is performed by the Office of Graduate Academic Services. In no situation may a graduate student repeat courses in the MBA or MS program that have been done at a previous time (whether in a prior undergraduate or masters program). These courses must be substituted with other appropriate coursework. Please resolve any questions involving this issue with Prof. Palley, prior to your registration for courses.
CIS 8000 is a spreadsheet workshop. It is offered for students who have not had prior background using microcomputers and some form of spreadsheet (Excel, etc.). The course is waivable based on (1) a prior academic course utilizing the above, (2) a letter from a current/previous employer stating that the student rountinely used spreadsheets on the job, (3) passing a waiver examination. Students interested in waiving CIS 8000 (if it was not already waived upon admission) should direct inquiries to Ms. Elaine Bernstein, Graduate Academic Services at (646) 312-3140.
