Course Objectives
The main objective of this course is to
provide students with an in-depth understanding of
the security risks and countermeasures evident in modern,
networked information systems.
Topics Include:
- Review of networking: Major components and protocols (TCP/IP)
- Overview of major operating systems architectures and components
- Risks and threats in networked information systems
- Security strategy: Policies, planning, implementation and evaluation
- Public and Private Key Cryptography
- Exploits: lifecycle and impact assessment
- Operating systems security: Principles and implementation
- Database systems security: Principles and implementation
- Wired and Wireless Network security: Principles and implementation
- Web Services security: Principles and implementation
- Intrusion detection, reporting and forensics
- Managerial and Ethical issues involving monitoring, reporting and information use
Upon successful completion of this course, students will have
advanced skills to effectively assess, document and manage the
implementation of security policies and
procedures that are crucial to successful networked
information systems.
