ABSTRACT

This paper examines three dimensions of firms' globalization strategies: why go global, how to go global and what to do when global. Based on the existing literature, we propose a model that describes why global industry factor, national factor and firm factor affect firms strategies on how to enter global space by mergers and acquisition or alliances, and what to do in management, market choice and product in globalization. The case of NTTdocomo is analyzed using the model. By choosing NTTdocomo, the study offers insights into how a firm as a leader in the domestic market can bank on its core competency to expand abroad.
