ABSTRACT
The purpose of
this paper is to acquire an understanding of what IS research
is all about, to define some of the main areas in the broad spectrum
of IS research, and to provide a short overview for scholars
to use as a springboard and a starting point to conduct future
studies. A device is proposed called a research capsule. Each
such capsule is a broad superficial overview of the particular
IS research area and is intended to serve as a portal for a scholar
who is interested in embarking on a path of research in that
area.
